Fuel costs to travel to these locations continue to burden working families, with high taxation playing a major role. A typical working person earning £130 might see £30 taken in income tax and national insurance, leaving £100. When spending on fuel, the government then extracts around £65 in fuel duty and VAT combined, meaning the state takes £95 pounds out of every £130 earned in such scenarios.

Fuel costs even driving to these locations offsets much of the savings passed on, which again the government controls via taxation and has raked in £100m’s in extra VAT since the rise in energy costs. For myself who owns an average diesel car, the increase in cost of fuel since Labour came to power on a journey to Legoland Windsor would be £15 and as a family of four, the VAT savings on tickets would be in the region of £22. So just offsetting the fuel increases, it’s about £1.50 a ticket saving.

These everyday realities far outweigh any short term holiday relief.

So as Rachel Reeves announced a £300million package to help families, behind the scenes, HMRC is preparing plans to charge 20 per cent VAT on the fees airports charge airlines for using runways and terminals.

An airline industry source described the proposal as a stealth tax', warning it would hit families already struggling to afford holidays. The new charge would be added on top of Air Passenger Duty, which currently costs between £15 and £106 for economy class overseas flights depending on the distance travelled.

At Heathrow, where the standard passenger charge sits at approximately £24, the new tax could add nearly £5 to each ticket.

It’s Simple, Cut Taxes For All And The Size Of The State

Reeves’s summer savings package is typical of this government’s style; headline-grabbing announcements that promise relief but deliver little substance while risking damage to British producers.

It underscores the need for genuine pro-growth policies rather than short-term attempted fixes for bad policies. The Official Numbers Tell A Different Story To Starmer’s Celebrations

Provisional ONS figures for the year ending December 2025 show net migration at 171,000 and this figure is what Starmer has seized upon. It’s 100% true this is down from previous peaks under the Tories, with Labour claiming an 82 to 84 percent fall. But net figures cannot be viewed in isolation, we need to look at the gross immigration figures that stood at 813,000, with emigration reaching around 642,000.

The key figures are as follows;

• 813,000 people arrived in Britain in 2025

• 627,000 of those were non-EU nationals or 77% of total immigration.

• 350,000 non-EU nationals left inc students

• 246,000 British nationals left the country, second highest on record

• 88,000 were asylum claims, including from illegal immigrants.

Notations;

• Half of work visas went to dependents rather than primary workers, therefore it’s safe to assume many will be on welfare.

• Gross immigration between 2021 and 2025 totalled 5.6 million.

• One in 20 current UK residents arrived in the last five years.

• First or second generation immigrants now make up around a quarter of the population.

Net migration is a deceptive metric and Labour know this. The fall to 171,000 relies heavily on record British emigration, including thousands of young native Brits seeking better prospects abroad. We are replacing good British people who leave due to state of this country with migrants from outside the EU, from different cultures and history, who are statistically likely to be here on welfare. If that isn’t managed decline and a replacement of the native British people, then I don’t know what is.

This scale of migration strains housing, the NHS, schools, and social cohesion. Building three new Birminghams to accommodate recent arrivals is neither feasible nor desirable. Public concern remains sky high, with immigration topping polls as a major issue and rightly so.

We have warned of this for months, the youth unemployment figures have born it out again and again. Labours attack on ‘evil’ businesses and business owners with billions in tax rises, despite the manifesto saying everything is full costed and funded, is causing severe consequences for millions that were entirely predictable. Business after business that traditionally employ younger workers are collapsing or closing from Claire’s accessories to River Island and TGI Friday.

Challenges to the Official Narrative

Labour ministers point to global pressures and claim overall employment remains steady but they are lying as the data tells a different story. Youth rates have worsened markedly under this government. Promises of apprenticeships and training opportunities have not materialised at the scale needed, while mass low skilled migration continues to compete with British school leavers for available work.

The education system funnels too many into degrees of questionable value, leaving them with debt and few practical skills. At the same time, policies that prioritise certain demographics through diversity quotas sideline talented young white British men who feel increasingly forgotten. This is not compassion. It is division that harms social cohesion and economic potential.

It shows how just out of touch this government is.

The British Retail Consortium warned of echoes of 1970s price controls that could force firms to sell below cost. Former Sainsbury’s leader Justin King dismissed the idea as nonsense, emphasising that genuine competition, not government orders, delivers fair pricing.

• Food inflation stood at around 3 percent in April 2026 but faces upward pressure later in the year.

• Retailers highlight Labour’s increases in employer taxes, national minimum wage hikes, packaging costs and other regulatory burdens as major factors pushing up prices.

• A previous competition authority investigation found no evidence of widespread profiteering in the supermarket sector but Reeves still pushes her Socialist agenda and approach that business is bad and evil.

This approach mirrors the economic illiteracy of socialist politicians elsewhere. In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a self described democratic socialist, has pursued similar policies including plans for city run grocery stores to combat high food prices. Mamdani’s vision involves government outlets operating without profit motives, subsidised by taxpayers and exempt from normal costs, alongside rent freezes and other price controls.

Measures like price caps have never succeeded in a capitalist society like those in the West, where prices reflect supply, demand and costs. Instead they create shortages, deter investment and require ever more subsidies funded by hard working taxpayers.

History from 1970s Britain to modern Venezuela shows that shooting the messenger of prices never fixes underlying problems, it only hides them until they explode.

Reeves takes over £100m in extra tax on fuel duty

Fuel duty is another issue in the news too. Duty is a fixed rate (currently 52.95p per litre for petrol and diesel, with the temporary 5p cut extended), so it does not rise automatically with pump prices. However, VAT at 20% applies to the full price (including duty), meaning higher wholesale oil prices and retail costs generate extra VAT receipts.

Recent spikes have led HMRC to notable short-term gains in tax revenue. The RAC Foundation estimated around £61 million in extra VAT over roughly one month in early 2026 from a sharp price rise, with cumulative extra VAT from elevated prices reaching over £100 million in a matter of weeks in some analyses. Its also worth remembering that this cut was also implemented by the late Tory party.

Reeves & Co slammed so called ‘profiteering’ when fuel prices spiked not understanding how the long term markets work.

Labour got stung when people understood that if they earn £130 to fill their cars and remove all government taxes from PAYE to fuel duties, they only get circa £35 of fuel, £95 of their money goes to the government in tax revenue.

So for some reason Reeves wants applause and adoration for freezing the tax on fuel whilst raking in more anyway.

Cut taxes and slash red tape, its the only way to Restore Britain

Right leaning analysts and industry figures rightly challenge this trend. Supermarkets function in a competitive environment where efficiency and innovation keep costs in check. The real solutions involve lowering the overall cost base for businesses and consumers through tax reductions, regulatory relief and pro growth measures that encourage supply and investment, rather than punishing success with state diktats.

Britain needs practical realism, not recycled socialist fantasies that ignore economic reality. Restore Britain and figures like Rupert Lowe offer precisely that alternative by focusing on root causes of inflation, cutting unnecessary burdens on enterprise, securing domestic energy supplies and prioritising British families and workers. When Rachel Reeves moved into the flat above No10, she found it completely empty. • Rules allow up to £30,000 for such work, yet the lack of basic inventory tracking shows poor management of public assets especially when Reeves has increased taxes on regular people and business to the tune of £60bn.

• Previous occupants even the Sunaks furnished their own apartment at their own expense and then took their personal items when leaving, which is their right.

• Labour criticised past Conservative spending but has shown no greater restraint.

• £100,000s spent on vanity projects like portraits of the speaker of the house Lyndsey Hoyle.

Reports in the Telegraph, Express, and GB News confirm the details and public outrage. This is not isolated. It fits a broader picture of entitlement in the new administration.

Challenging Labour’s Priorities

The left often decries waste when convenient but ignores it when in power. This is another example and proves the point yet again. No proper handover process or asset register should allow such sloppiness.

Incidents like Rachel Reeves’ flat refit underscore the need for tighter controls on public spending and accountability in government. In response to this drubbing, Starmer turned not to fresh talent or new ideas but to two veteran figures from Labour’s past. He appointed former Prime Minister Gordon Brown as a special envoy on global finance and former deputy leader Harriet Harman as an adviser on women and girls. These moves were intended to project stability and experience. Instead they have sparked confusion, bewilderment, and criticism even among Labour MPs, highlighting the Prime Minister’s lack of direction.

Gordon Brown’s Damaging Record

Gordon Brown served as Chancellor and then Prime Minister during the New Labour era that many believe contributed significantly to Britain’s current challenges. His record includes several high profile failures.

• He expanded the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) in the NHS, saddling hospitals with long-term debts far exceeding the original build costs and draining resources from patient care for decades.

• As Chancellor he sold off hundreds of tonnes of UK gold reserves at historically low prices between 1999 and 2002, a decision widely criticised as poorly timed and costly to taxpayers in the long term.

• His 1997 pension tax raid removed dividend tax credits for pension funds, a move that delivered short-term revenue but contributed to the decline of final-salary schemes and reduced retirement incomes for millions.

• Rapid increase of public debt that took the UK from 13th in the developed world to 5th

• The 10p starting tax rate removal for lower earners caused significant political anger on his last budget where it his the lowest paid the hardest.

• Brown was also caught on a live microphone in 2010 describing a concerned voter, Gillian Duffy, as a bigoted woman after she raised issues about immigration.

During his time in government, reports of grooming gangs in places such as Rotherham were emerging with further reports he described the victims who were just kids as undertaking a ‘lifestyle choice’ which we knew even back then it was untrue. His failure to act decisively allowed these scandals to continue, ruining 100,000 of young lives over the proceeding 20+ years. Along with Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell, Brown bears responsibility for policies that prioritised ideology over the protection of vulnerable British girls and the concerns of working class communities.

Harriet Harman’s Controversial Past

Harriet Harman’s appointment as adviser on women and girls is equally perplexing given her history. In the late 1970s, while working as legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL), the organisation had links to the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE). Documents associated with the NCCL, including some involving Harman, argued against certain restrictions on child pornography images unless harm could be proven and engaged with broader debates on age of consent issues.

Harman has consistently denied personal support for PIE or lowering the age of consent and has condemned child exploitation. Nevertheless, her involvement in an organisation that tolerated such affiliations raises serious questions about judgment, particularly in a role focused on protecting women and girls. This history sits uncomfortably alongside her new responsibilities.

The Failures of Establishment Labour

These appointments signal a return to the very figures and mindset that many voters associate with Britain’s decline: open borders, economic mismanagement, and a willingness to overlook cultural issues in the name of political correctness. Far from restoring confidence, they reinforce the perception that Starmer’s Labour is out of touch and short of new ideas. The public delivered a clear message at the ballot box. Recycling discredited veterans only deepens the disillusionment.

We Need To Give People A Choice Of Something Genuinely New

Britain needs a clean break from the failed politics of the past. It is time for real change, not just shuffling the cards like Starmer and Reform with their old rejected Tories.

The decision on restarting work rests with Mad Ed, who prioritises renewables over domestic fossil fuels despite the unfolding nightmare in the UK.

The Devastating Impact on Aberdeen and UK Jobs

UK North Sea production has plummeted to about one-quarter of its 1999 peak. The workforce has shrunk dramatically, with tens of thousands of jobs lost. Aberdeen, once a thriving energy hub with high wages and strong growth, now suffers from falling house prices and economic decline. Reports indicate around 18,000 energy jobs gone since 2010, with hundreds more lost monthly. Local businesses, from hospitality to services, feel the knock-on effects as the transition to green jobs fails to materialise at the promised pace.

• The UK spent £20bn on Norwegian oil and gas imports last year alone.

• Domestic output continues to fall while policy blocks new development in the same geological basin.

• An Offshore Energies UK spokesman noted that differences between the UK and Norwegian sides stem entirely from government policy, regulation, and taxation, not geology.

One officer was stabbed multiple times, and the dog was stabbed in the chest while trying to protect its handler. He was referred to the Prevent programme in 2020, but the case was closed. Just days before the Golders Green attack, he had been released from a psychiatric hospital in south London.

This is NOT an integration success story. It is the opposite, like so many. Integration has proven a myth for many from certain backgrounds, particularly when cultural and religious attitudes clash fundamentally with British culture. Suleiman should not have been on the streets.

So lets get this clear. If we can deport native born Britons and lock up those for ill advised tweets like Lucy Connolly or having Britons jailed and tormented so much for holding a placard that they take their own life, we can certainly do the same for someone who has stabbed police officers and served jail sentences like Suleiman.

Police had to defend their actions in subduing a knife wielding terrorist who had just stabbed people and attacked officers. The police did what they should do and I have no issue with them, infact I praise them. They had no idea if he had any other weapons, a gun or a bomb vest under the loose clothing. Figures like Rupert have consistently highlighted these issues, calling out the insanity of unchecked migration and institutional bias. Only by adopting such common sense, nation first approaches, ending the experiments that have divided us, and prioritising the security and identity of the indigenous British population can we resolve these problems and prevent future tragedies, whether in Golders Green or anywhere else in our country.

An Iran-linked group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI), claimed responsibility, describing the attack on “Zionists.”

Officials and social media statements pointed to threats from both Islamic extremism and the “extreme right wing.” Yet the pattern of recent antisemitic incidents in north London, including arson attacks on Jewish ambulances, points overwhelmingly in one direction but every tentacle of government tries to hide it.

Starmer’s seems determined to adhere to a narrative that equates or downplays the primary source of violence against Jews. Green Party leader Zack Polanski liked an X post criticising police handling of the attacker, which many saw as minimising the horror of an attempted murder of innocent people, where the police had no idea if the attacker had another knife, a gun or a suicide vest.

Their policies emphasise restoring national sovereignty, securing borders through decisive action including leaving the ECHR to enable swift deportations of foreign criminals and illegal entrants, prioritising British citizens in housing and services, cracking down on grooming gangs without fear of political correctness, supporting the armed forces and veterans, cutting wasteful spending such as large payments to France, and rejecting expansive state surveillance in favour of personal responsibility. Rupert has consistently highlighted on X the failures of open borders, two-tier policing, and elite detachment from public safety concerns.

Implementing Restore Britain’s approach, focused on putting Britain and Britons first with strong borders, fair justice, and economic realism, would begin to reverse this decline and restore confidence in our country. The alternative is continued terror and fear. Britain deserves better.

Recent YouGov polls from this April show the Green Party surging to 17 percent of the national vote, effectively overtaking the governing Labour Party in several key metrics. In the upcoming London local elections, they are projected to take massive swathes of the vote, pushing an agenda that would bring our great nation to its knees.

If Zack Polanski and his party gain serious power, it will mean disaster on multiple fronts for the United Kingdom from which we may never recover. While their manifesto is littered with destructive ideas, I want to focus on six core issues that should terrify every hardworking citizen.

1/ Transport Policies Will Kill Struggling Families

First, we must look at their transport policy, which will frighten most families in the UK. The Greens are determined to wage war on the motorist, implementing policies that will absolutely kill family mobility, no question. Their plans disproportionately punish the working class who rely on older cars for their daily commute and family responsibilities. Limited speed limits on motorways and residential roads, yet further increase fuel duty, more regular driving tests and reduction in the available car parking spaces just declare another level of war on the motorist and the family.

I have an older diesel car with 150k miles on the clock. Its taken care of, never let me down, serviced every year and again went through its MOT with no issues this month. People like me cannot afford electric vehicles and we will be penalised again for this, treated as cash cows for a state obsessed with an unworkable environmental dogma. When we cant afford to buy even a second hand electric car how is financially penalising even me more for not having one going to help? It wont, it will make it even further away and hurt even more. It’s just insanity and an ill thought out policy.

2/ The Economy Will Implode Under New Taxes, Working Days And Wage Ratio Legislation

The Greens have continually pushed for a punitive wealth tax and a plan to equalise Capital Gains Tax with standard income tax rates. They try to sell this to the public as merely squeezing the super-rich, but tax experts and right-leaning analysts have exposed the grim reality. By aggressively hiking these taxes and proposing to uncap National Insurance, they will hit ordinary middle-class savers, small-time investors, and entrepreneurs who have worked their entire lives to build a nest egg. It is a direct punishment on aspiration that will simply accelerate the mass exodus of wealth creators and capital from our shores.

At a time when British productivity is already dangerously sluggish, the Green Party believes the solution is for everyone to work less. Their continued support for moving the country towards a four-day working week with no loss of pay is an idea completely detached from economic reality. While it might sound appealing to their radical base, implementing this across the board would cripple our already strained public services and destroy the profit margins of countless private enterprises. You simply cannot mandate national wealth generation while simultaneously reducing the hours worked to achieve it.

Further proving their complete lack of business acumen, the Greens advocate for heavy-handed state intervention in the private jobs market. They have consistently backed raising the minimum wage even more and forcing a draconian 10:1 maximum pay ratio within companies, meaning the highest earner in a firm cannot make more than ten times the lowest earner. The consequences of such authoritarian market interference are glaringly obvious;

• Small and medium-sized businesses, which are already battered by inflation and high overheads, will be forced to cut staff or close their doors entirely. Its happened to thousands already with Labours NI and business rate hikes.

• Top-tier talent and experienced executives will simply relocate to countries where their skills are properly rewarded without state interference.

• International investment into British firms will completely dry up as corporate structures become micromanaged by a hostile, anti-capitalist government.

So a four day working week at the same salary, limits to business owners and directors pay, higher taxes and increased capital gains tax. Entrepreneurs and business owners will leave and those who want to start a business will do that abroad, its that simple, its happening already and I know 5 who have left already under Labour because of their policies.

3/ The Insanity Of Migrant Universal Basic Income

Third, their economic illiteracy reaches its peak with the insane plan to give all migrants a universal basic income of £1600 a month. This figure is frankly an insult to hardworking Britons and will only serve to attract even more migrants to our shores.

We must ask ourselves who is going to pay for all this? The reality is grim;

• People at the top are leaving the country in their tens of thousands to escape punishing taxes. Latest figures are 15k of the wealthiest have gone in 2024/5 and taking their money and HMRC payments with them.

• Those at the bottom of the income scale are being handed everything without having to contribute, welfare is outstripping what the working people of this country and paying in tax.

• The squeezed middle earners are the only ones left, and they are going to be completely crushed by the resulting £19 billion bill.

My own son is currently struggling to make ends meet in a difficult economy, yet he earns the same as what the Greens propose to hand out to people who have just arrived on our shores, contributed nothing to this country, dumping their documents and claiming to be gay and under persecution in the homeland to gain entry. It’s madness and i can see him leaving the UK for opportunities abroad which breaks my heart.

4/ The Mainstreaming of Anti-Jewish Sentiment

Forth, we cannot ignore the deeply troubling reports surrounding the party and its internal culture. There are growing and persistent reports of them being anti-Jewish. As highlighted by recent investigations, the Green Party appears to be mainstreaming this hate, allowing toxic ideologies to fester within its ranks. A party that cannot root out such prejudice has absolutely no business running a country.

We also need to remember that there is a deputy leader is and his religious beliefs are not in line with those of Zach. What happens if Zach goes?

5/ Accelerating Net Zero Without Infrastructure

Fifth, their obsession with environmental targets will spell ruin for our country. The Greens plan to bring net zero targets forward, despite the glaringly obvious fact that we do not have the infrastructure to manage it and they keep forgetting its impossible to build enough battery storage for electric cars, never minding the domestic and commercial energy supply. We are already struggling to keep the lights on and heat our homes affordably, yet they want to accelerate a transition that relies on technology and grid capacity that simply does not exist yet. It is officially a scary prospect for anyone who understands basic engineering and economics.

We don’t have enough nickel on the planet for the batteries needed to change all our cars over to electric, so how the hell will we manage it for domestic and commercial energy provision. Bringing forward Net Zero is insanity.

6/ The Authoritarian Threat to Silence And Exclude Right Leaning Voices And Voters

Lastly, and perhaps most worrying for myself as a right-leaning journalist, is the mask slipping from their leadership. In an interview on their own website and discussed widely across the media, their leader Zack Polanski openly suggested leaving right-wing voters out of society. He essentially stated that he wants to build a society without the right-wing, which is a truly authoritarian stance. How exactly does he plan to expel millions of voters from society? This kind of rhetoric is dangerous, divisive, and shows exactly what kind of totalitarian instincts lie beneath their friendly, eco-conscious exterior.

The Greens want to silence and leave right wing citizens out of society. The irony of Labour calling right wing voices as far right and like 1930s Germany then Zachis the one who wants to exclude us if we don’t agree with his vision. So what happens to us? How does he exclude us from his utopian society?

Restore Britain Offers the Only Realistic Solution

The United Kingdom cannot survive the kind of radical, economy destroying, socially devastating, and authoritarian policies pushed by the Green Party. This is why the political movement led by Rupert is the only common sense path forward. Restore Britain understands that we must drastically scale back the size of the state and reduce taxes on the squeezed middle class. Their policy of net-negative immigration and large-scale deportation of those without legal status will immediately put a stop to the absurd universal basic income handouts. Furthermore, Rupert has rightly challenged the cult of climate change, meaning a Restore Britain government would scrap these ruinous net zero targets and focus on policies that actually benefit the British people. It is time to reject the authoritarianism of the Greens and restore common sense to our nation.

Our armed forces rely on morale and the knowledge that the government has their back, a social contract that Keir Starmer and his cabinet have decisively broken multiple times in less than their 2 years in office.
