Lord Wolfson dramatically exposes Starmers PMQ lies and utter hypocrisy
He just wont stop lying. He just cant stop lying. Starmer has been caught out again, this time by Lord Wolfson who he accused of working for Abramovich on escaping sanctions which was wholly untrue.
On January 7, 2026, during Prime Minister’s Questions, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer criticised Wolfson, suggesting he was advising Abramovich on escaping sanctions while serving in the Shadow Cabinet. This prompted a strong response from the Conservatives, with Badenoch accusing Starmer of lying to smear Wolfson.
Lord David Wolfson of Tredegar, a King’s Counsel (KC) and Conservative peer serving as Shadow Attorney General under Opposition Leader Kemi Badenoch, has been representing sanctioned Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich in ongoing litigation in Jersey. Abramovich, the former owner of Chelsea Football Club, was sanctioned by the UK in 2022 due to his alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the invasion of Ukraine. As part of his sanctions, assets worth billions were frozen, including in the Channel Islands.
In 2022, Abramovich sold Chelsea FC for around £4.25 billion, with the net proceeds (approximately £2.5 billion after debts and costs) intended to be donated to a charitable foundation supporting victims of the war in Ukraine. However, these funds remain frozen in a UK bank account due to unresolved legal and administrative issues, including disputes over how the money should be distributed. Separately, Abramovich is pursuing a lawsuit in Jersey against the island’s government, alleging breaches of data protection rights related to the freezing of over £5 billion in assets there. This Jersey case is not directly about UK sanctions or the Chelsea proceeds but has been linked by critics to delays in releasing the Ukraine funds, but the transfers cannot proceed until his legal matters are resolved.
Summary of Lord Wolfson’s Letter to the Prime Minister
In an open letter dated January 7, 2026, Lord Wolfson directly addressed and refuted Starmer’s comments from PMQs. He outlined five specific ways in which the Prime Minister’s statements were incorrect:
Not a Shadow Cabinet Member Wolfson clarified that he is not a full member of the Shadow Cabinet. As Shadow Attorney General, his role is limited to advising the Leader and Shadow Cabinet on legal issues. He has only attended part of one such meeting, where he presented advice on withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights (which has since been published).
Scope of Advice to Abramovich He is not advising Abramovich on UK sanctions nor the proceeds from the Chelsea FC sale. His involvement is solely in the ongoing litigation in Jersey. The case concerns alleged breaches of data protection rights by the Jersey Government and related claims. The UK Government is not a party to this litigation, which does not challenge UK sanctions and has no connection to the donation of Chelsea sale proceeds.
Agreement on Chelsea Proceeds The £2.5 billion from the Chelsea sale is held in the UK and is intended for humanitarian causes in Ukraine. Both the Government and Opposition agree on this, with no disagreement between the parties.
Starmer’s Past Views on Legal Representation Wolfson quoted Starmer’s own words from his time as Leader of the Opposition: “Lawyers represent clients. Doctors treat patients. The fact a doctor treats a patient doesn’t mean the doctor agrees with what the patient’s beliefs are.” He accused Starmer of abandoning these principles, despite claiming to want to “turn a corner” in 2026.
Wolfson signed off as Shadow Attorney General, emphasising that Starmer had turned his back on views he once held dear. The letter defends Wolfson’s professional role as a barrister while highlighting what he sees as factual inaccuracies in the Prime Minister’s accusations.
Starmer wants you to ignore his and Hermers own record on defending killers ‘human rights’
Basically Keir is at it again, pointing his finger like a child in a playground squeaking ‘sir sir look at him sir’ conveniently forgetting he has worked for free as a lawyer representing some of the worlds most depraved killers, criminals, arsonists and sex offenders all to protect their ‘human rights’, including a monster who buried his two-year-old stepchild alive. And forget the cab rank rule, this was voluntarily jetting off to defend these deviants like some sort of human rights hero to these scum.
His own Attorney General, Lord Hermer has previously faced questions over his previous work representing Rangzieb Ahmed, a convicted al-Qaeda operative, and represented the mother of El Shafee Elsheikh, a member of the "ISIS Beatles" group, in a case that temporarily blocked the sharing of intelligence with the US without death penalty assurances. If that wasnt enough…
Acting as lead counsel for the former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams in damage claims brought against him and the Provisional IRA.
Trying to bring Shamima Begum back into the country.
Working on helping to surrender the Chagos Islands.
Calling the British Empire ‘deeply racist’, fought for reparations and said all children should be made to learn about empire’s ‘legacy of violence’.
Comparing calls to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to the rise of Nazism in the 1930s.
Insisting that judges should not be publicly criticised by politicians, a stance that drew backlash from opposition figures.
Starmer is not fit to be in office. Hermer is not fit for anything.
